Tintagel is well placed in Cornwall for access to a large area, right in the centre of North Cornwall, not far from the main route down the coast. Heading West and further down the coast brings you to a farm park called Old MacDonald's Farm which is relaxing and fun, with camping facilities, only minutes from the beach at Porthcothan Bay. This is an exceptional stretch of coastline, with stand outs such as Bedruthan Steps and Watergate Bay, the later a long stretch of sand that picks up the same swell as Fistral in Newquay.

Before you get to Porthcothan you will pass Padstow, where the Camel Trail starts, one of the finest cycle trails in Cornwall. Bike hire is available here from Trail Bike Hire, providing quality bikes to make the journey past Wadebridge and onto Bodmin. From Bodmin, you can follow the new addition to the trail up through woods to Wenfordbridge. There is a steam railway near here, a snap shot back in time to Cornwall's industrial past.

Although Bodmin is much more of a centre of business, there are a lot of stand out features, such as the outstanding, and rather fearsome, jail, Shire Hall, and military museum.
